I was actually napping at work (during my lunch break! Honestly!) and I woke up to a shudder. The lights rattled and the whole library shifted. It felt like a serious case of airplane turbulence. People were running out of their offices and from between the bookshelves. One guy sprinted out and slid under a table...but the earthquake stopped pretty much right after that.
This was a conversation I overheard:
Librarian 1: "should we leave our office? Or duck or something?"
Librarian 2: "...I think right now we're just standing around."
Hahaha. :)
In other news, as to WHY I'm napping during my lunch break instead of eating...I work 8:30 to 5 at the university library, and I'm a bit poor right now. Yes, I am joining the ranks of poor college students all around the country. So I was trying to save on some money by eating a snack during the day and then cooking some yummy deliciousness once I got home. Luckily, my paycheck came in today...YES for grocery shopping! (PS, never go grocery shopping while you're hungry. You will just want to eat and buy EVERYTHING OM NOM NOM).
I was sooo hungry yesterday...and one of the supervisors sent me to the music office to drop off a crate and pick up her mail. While I was in there, I noticed a counter that was chock full of goodies...costco muffins, coffee, etc etc. I drifted closer, all the while wondering is this just for the music office employees? or anyone?
After some intense inner debating, I finally grabbed a peanut butter chocolate cookie quickly (I wasn't daring enough to grab a whole costco muffin) and walked away as casually as I could. As I was making my escape...alas...
"Um, excuse me??"
I froze and slowly turned around...
"These are for your supervisor too."
I got handed a stack of music scores, which I took with my non-chocolate smudged hand and then I fled the scene of the crime.
Anyways! Not the main point of today's blog! Today is Link Thursday and today's link is bookshelf porn. I swear it's not dirty. Unless you want it to be.
This website is a MUST for anyone who loves books. There are pictures of mountains of books! Piles of books! Libraries that put the Beast's library to shame! And vintage, cute, modern, artsy arrangements galore. Someday I want to live in a house that has books and bookshelves for walls. :D Ever since I read Madeline L'Engle's Ring of Endless Light with Vicky Austin's grandfather, I have determined that it will come true. :D
