I like to read while I'm brushing my teeth.
These days it gets cold at night. So cold, I don't want to bother washing up in the cold cold bathroom with the cold water...I'd rather just snuggle down into my blankets and forget about hygiene.
So I've taken to leaving a book in the bathroom. Every time I'm tempted to just sleep, I remember I have a book waiting to be read. It's sometimes just the motivation I need. But oftentimes, this method backfires...because I'll start reading in the morning/night and then I won't leave the bathroom until I've finished the book. I sit down on the bathtub edge and forget about taking a shower.
This is why I try not to put books I haven't read before in the bathroom. It has to be previously read books, because I like to read new books in gulps rather than small sips. The most recent books I've finished in bathroom increments are: Sophie's World, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, and Ender's Shadow. All which I'd highly recommend to anyone.
I know this sounds very weird. Truth is though, this is not new. My parents said that when I was younger, I'd take a book in with me when I washed up at night and it would take forever and a day...because I'd lay the book flat on the counter while I was washing my face. I'd dash some water on my face, read a page, apply soap to my face, read another page, and then rinse off the soap as fast as I could.
To finish this post, I'd like to say that I wish the word palindrome was a palindrome.
