The last time I was in India, the group I was with had a game night at the cafe we were helping out at.  We went around, introduced ourselves to the crowd there, and had to give some basic stats:  Name, Major/Occupation, and whether we were Single or Taken.

At the time, I'm sure that last question was meant to break the ice in a sort of funny way.  But in retrospect, it made the whole thing seem like a singles mixer or something.  Also, now when people say they're "taken", it immediately makes me think of:
Picture
single and ready to mingle? Or taken?
...which is a movie mostly about Liam Neeson being a bad-ass, but is also incidentally about girls being kidnapped and sold into prostitution.

Another funny/weird word connotation I've been getting lately is that when people say the word "smashing" as a compliment, I think of gentlemen in top hats sitting around a table at a country club, holding tea-cups (with their pinkies sticking up into the air), and saying "rather smashing, I'd say!"  "Pip pip cheerio!" in British accents.

Capital! Your mustache is capital, old chap!
Or this:

And Hulk? Smash!
Although neither is a bad association.

Admittedly, I appreciate the Hulk a little more since this last Avengers outing, but I am so curious about his pants.  It's the age-old question.  What kind of pants does he wear that they can stay on his over-sized, green Hulk frame?  It's one of those small details that never fails to bug me even though I'm probably supposed to automatically suspend belief.

Amongst those annoying details in the superhero universe is the fact that everyone seems to be oblivious to the fact that Superman and Clark Kent look exactly alike, except for the glasses and the iconic curl of hair on the forehead.

I must get rid of this hair gel before someone sees me and realizes the truth!
But the whole "why I think Superman is stupid" aka "Why Batman is so much better than Superman, although in an actual fight Superman would probably win" speech is something that everyone hears from me at one point or another in our acquaintance, along with the "why I have a problem with Twilight" speech.

On a similar note though, I rewatched Batman Begins last night for the first time in a while, and realized anew how spectacular that movie is.

It's smashing, if I do say so myself.
