This should give you a pretty good picture of what to expect from this movie.
This is the End is crazy. There's no better way to put it. I love that everyone plays as themselves, combining exactly what you'd expect them to be like in the off-time with some outrageous off-the-wall representations of themselves. It's amazing. Michael Cera and James Franco were some of the favorites for me. Jonah Hill is particularly hilarious as well as the gentle soul.
I'm surprised though that they didn't mention the fact that half the main cast is Jewish, which is probably a rarity...and something I hoped they'd at least run a joke off of at least a few times considering they run the gamut of every other humorous possibility.
What makes this movie so great is that the actors are willing to play out the worst of themselves and what they've done like in a self-deprecating SNL celebrity appearance. The movie does, however, feel like a short sketch that's been written and stretched out to span an entire movie and can get tiring.
I'm interested to see how Edgar Wright's The World's End will measure up against This is the End.
